A little phrase that's not going down well. Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, told the Congrès des maires de France on Tuesday that the country had to be prepared "to lose its children". Back in October, he said that France had to be ready "for a clash with Russia in three or four years' time".
