Should military service be reinstated in France? Emmanuel Macron has decided in favor of a 10-month voluntary national service, with the aim of mobilizing 50,000 young people by 2035. Purely military, it will be designed to meet the needs of the armed forces in the face of Russian threats and the increased risk of war. This national service will be launched progressively from next summer. For several years now, many European countries have been reintroducing this service. The war in Ukraine seems to have accelerated the process.
